Movie commentary: Starting Over Again

Another Filipino love story movie, Starting Over Again. Seriously, why do they get the title from classic songs? It's very cliche. Well, any hows the movie was great and it was sad. I dunno why they are making such a typical films now. Before, it was all about mistresses and two-timers. Now, we have those stories of break-ups and ended up with another who turned out to be better than the last one (I can relate to that * Evil laugh*). Okay, back to the main topic. The movie was great (I said that again), the actors and actresses played good.
Seriously, I really don't understand why they titled it Starting Over Again when in the last part of the story they ended their relationship and the guy married his new lover. Oh right, they referred it to the lyrics of the song. Typical, just typical. But hey, for the director I'd give a 7+ rating. Bravo! So, okay. I'm not explaining the whole movie here.

Okay. A student who seriously loves her professor in college. She'd study hard just to impress the guy. She drives him crazy with all the screaming and shouting saying "I love you Sir!". Oh my, really? Even if I was in  her shoes I'd be too shy to do that If I had a crush on a teacher. Students don't do that now a days, or even mail letters. He, on the other hand doesn't even like the girl. Uh hello? A teacher and student relationship inside one institution? It's not allowed. I think that's in every school handbook. Teacher and student relationship in one campus is forbidden. Maybe because of favoritism and unequal relationship to other students. It's not balance, and not right. Unless, the student is from another school or she finished her studies. But during semesters and classes? Big no no.

  • Toni Gonzaga, who plays Ginny Gonzales as an architecture student who happens to have a major crush on her history instructor. Her role as the childish, short-haired, smarty- pants school girl who would do anything just to have the attention of Marco.

Seriously Toni, what's with the wig thang? I can't seem to take my eyes off that jaw. But, you're a good actress. Keep it up. She plays better as well being childish. Well, I noticed that you have so many at hand. Can't you wear one bracelet for each day?
    Nice bag, Ginny.

Papa Piolo, nice headband. Okay, Piolo plays as Marco Villanueva who is the history teacher in a University. He happens to be the crush ng campus of the said school. He's strong personality and his relationship to his students are a turn-on to Ginny. Though, he maybe classy in his role but he is good. Add hotness to that too. Nyaah!

Okay, there goes the wig thing again. Toni looks so young in this scene and Piolo looks like a dad.
Yeah, aside from being able to teach, Marco can also cook. Did I mention that he went to a culinary school? And, build a small restaurant for customers to taste his authentic dish? Oh, now you know. He loves to cook. Gosh! If I had a guy like that, I'd buy all the ingredients to all his dishes and a free taste to his booodeey!
We all feel that, Ginny. But it looks to me that you are very ticklish of the way Marco kissed your shoulder. Grrr, Marco I want a bite of that. Hahaha! Seriously, Ginny? You look like shit.
It's your fault Ginny. You left him for no reason. Now, look at you? Having second thought about seeing him or not. You're over-reacting at his letter. I should probably mention that you were the one who left in the first place. You ignored his letters. You went to Spain and came back after 4 years? How can that not hurt him? Now, you want him back? You're being selfish. And Toni's scene here seems so o.a. Really.
His new lover, Iza Calzado plays as Pat. The new lover of Marco. They met at New York. Pat also loves to cook, well, baking. She loves to bake. And she's very pretty too, maybe the same age as Marco.
Uhhh. Poor Ginny. Seeing the love of her life(EX) with another girl. A very typical pinoy movie. But seeing the ending made me cry because I wanted Marco and Ginny to live happily with each other not with another. But it was okay, since they started as friends again. Okay, advice though, never let go of the person you truly love and make that person feel important or else you'll end up regretting all the things you did. The pain will haunt you down. That's all loveers! Chao.
