After college

I am such a loser in making titles *sigh* Oh well, just keep reading. One of the reasons why I'm writing this blog post is to see what my musings are during the past few years that I made contact with this site. I have been majorly been doing this when I was in college and still as of now, I am still doing it so that I could see my works when I reach the age of 40-ish and something to look forward to in the future.

Right now, I am done with my summer class in english literature. I am now a summer graduate with a bachelors degree in education major in Special Ed. Yeah, yeah, I am a sped teacher and I love my profession because the fact that I love kids, I am also one younger looking teacher (Naaaah! Kidding). I just wanted this career because my instincts told me so. Okay, so I just finished my 4 years and 2 months of apeshit studying and proceeding with the real thing, job.

After the whole summer class, I badly needed a job. Well, everyone keeps on telling me that I should wait for that to come but who cares? I need one because I so wanted to help my siblings and some of the bills at home. I never get to land one but so to speak, there are opportunities out there that are waiting for me. So, I guess I can wait.

I thank everyone who are always there for me because I never loosed hope and the fact that my parents are still very supportive financially and morally, I am very happy that they are always there for me. That includes my tita, tito, cousins, and friends. Oh, add him up for that, who never left my side and always there for me. Thanks! I guess I'm very lucky to have a life, I have right now and with those people who are very dear to me and believed in me. I should be thanking my Lola Betty too because she is an inspiration to me in every way she does for me. Wow, it looks like I'm making a very touchy speech here. But enough for that.

I got this job, well, it's very related to my degree. I get to be an assistant teacher in a very prestigious school. When I say prestigious, I meant standard and very advanced in terms of learning and competitiveness. Wow, gotta bow down for that. Yeah, I am a teacher aide in a very very very special class. Why special class? Because I get to teach children with autism. And, oh my gosh! I never felt so excited in my after-college-life.

Talk about never gonna sit in class for 5 hours, not listening to instructors lecture and never studying for another quizzes, never making assignments. Well, hello my friend, I am the one doing it now because I have now the power to do things like a pro. Well, maybe in a regular class but in special class? Slight touches.

Handling a number of 20 special kids in class might sound very difficult and tired. Well, yes! I gotta say It was very difficult. Specially when the kids are very hyper and can't control there behavior. I was about to quit but my mind says that "You can do it JC". Yeah, yeah, as a self-absorbed person that I am I wanted to cry and resign to It. But I felt pity on my teacher because he is the only one handling 20 students in 4 session and that's very difficult. Because they are special kids and you can only teach them in a one-on-one teaching-learning strategy.

Thinking about getting up and waking up early makes my body want to still sleep. But my mind aims for something very special like, "Get up JC, It's a new day. Experience. Experience Experience". Haha! That was all I could think of every time I get second thoughts about getting up in the mornings. Maybe teachers would think about, "Hey, wake up you. Pay day. Pay day. Pay day". Wow, no wonder some teachers are so grumpy in the mornings and now I can relate to that. Hahaha! Kidding educators.

I was able to survive 4 days with them and the remaining days, weeks.. Probably gonna survive for months and years, well, I have to. This is so new to me, but I am able to connect with those special children and able to teach them. I admit, I'm not a very strict teacher but when It comes to kids.. I am very passionate about them. I don't scold them, whenever they made a mistake or even send them to the principal or call their parents when they are in trouble but simply talk them out of it and warn them and shit. Ooops, sorry.

Well, at least I see myself having my very own classroom, and having my very own advisory class. But as for now, I am doing this as an experience for the future reference on my job description. tee-hee-hee. The experience of volunteering as a teacher aide in a school where I can easily land a job after a few years. May God give me strength in continuing to pursuit my dreams in life, especially right now. Handling autism.

***
Now, to make the long story short, I am happy to get this opportunity as a teacher aide and well, I get to see him every day. The end. I guess, experiencing in a job your course is related to adds additional points when you tend to use it as a reference in the near future, or better yet, landing a job.

6 Reasons Why I Love Teaching

When I was 16, a fourth year high school student. There was this test that would identify which career path you're gonna be when entering college. As I got the result, there it was saying "you're career path is becoming a teacher". This time, I get to be really upset about it, because I do not want to be a teacher. I wanted anything else but be a teacher. Because a teacher has many things to do, like compute student grades, facing parents or even dating one (kidding about that), responsible for students behavior in school, facing the principal about student behaviors, and writing lesson plans. It's all about students, lessons, and school work. Sheesh! I really wanted to become a nurse but Noooo.
My entire family had to drag me to becoming an educator and so I got what they wanted. I'd always wanted to become a nurse or better yet a fashion designer, or cartoonist. I wanted to doodle. Finally, all my intentions paid off, I had to enroll in an Education department and I what I thought was "Maybe being a teacher is not so bad after all". I took a shot at it. I was then influenced by my Aunt (She's a Sped teacher) that I should be choosing a teacher because it's a simple job and then I was thinking "what's so simple about being a teacher? It's a pain in the ass". My dad had to tease me like "When you become a teacher, you can enjoy lots of stuff, like listing down noisy students and letting them pay for every stick they are noisy and you get to enjoy their money like buying yourself a pair of crayons" or even cigarettes (kidding, I don't smoke). Then my grandmother told me that "J, you'd become a great teacher because you are nice, you can draw which students find it interesting in listening to your lessons, you are smart, you love children and you are very responsible". That gave me a hit in the heart. I then realized that I wanted this profession enough to also make my grandmom proud because she was also an educator in Home Ed.

Okay, so I finaally am an educator student. However, I didn't take it seriously though because of the whole "new-friends-and-party" going on as I entered college. Until from time to time, I finally realized that I love to teach..

Reasons of Why I Love Being a Teacher:

1. Creating Colorful and Fun Atmosphere.
Oh, I just love this decorating thing, I wanted my classroom to be interesting and fun for children to explore and learn. During my internship, I was also caught up with all the colorful classroom setting which is very eye-catching and all the art works of it.

2. Sharing What I  Also Learned.
Well, maybe because it's colorful and very easy to read and I can share this to my students. Reading can be very easy and fun especially to children. You know, with all the pictures and colors in it. Teaching them the ABCs, and other stuffs they would be interested in. Sometimes, children books can engage to games and storytelling. Me? What I did, storytelling. They find it interesting and they can learn something with it.

3. Relationship with Kids.
I just love children, which makes me one. The more I spend time with them the more I look younger (Hahaha. Kidding). Well, I love children and I love to teach them. Sharing what I learned during my days to them makes me a very responsible person, honest and approachable. Well, when I am teaching in a regular class I would never give failing marks to my students that would piss every parents. I know the feeling, that's why I never wanted to see anyone fail when I am teaching. Sharing my experiences to them makes it easy for them to understand. The ability to help them give their best in tests.

4. Novelty
Those who have taught know exactly what I mean here. Teaching is NEVER the same from one day to the next. The constant flux of variables: students present in class, student moods, time of year, time of day, other events in the school, lesson for the day ... make this profession an never-ending kaleidoscope of variety and change.
Being a teacher is not a boring job! Frustrating, yes, sometimes. Difficult. Yes. But boring, no! For someone like me, who loves adventure, you go on many journeys right within the walls of your classroom. Journeys of growth as students grow, you grow, and the class as whole grows.

 5. Summer Vacation
Yes! Two months off every year. How we teachers look forward toApril, counting down the last few days of the school year in anticipation! Even the keenest of teachers, most loving and dedicated, looks forward to a break. And a long, luxurious break we have. Kind of. Many of us still do prep work during the summer, getting ready for the next year. But still ... we don't have to officially "go to work." And that is a pretty sweet deal, no matter how you slice it! So, summer holidays are definitely on the top ten for the best things about being a teacher.
6. The Love
It's an easy job. I just love teaching, not because of the high salary I get, not because of the cute students to get that favoritism thingy, not because of cute people you get to know each year or some of the years, not because of failing the students. But because I appreciate the works of being a teacher (now). It really ain't hard being one but just keeping it real and love your profession as an educator.

15 years from Now

i was goggling into the net when i saw this question pop right up the screen.. "How do you see yourself 15 years from now?" that quickly made me wonder through my thoughts.. yes, how do you see yourself 15 years from now ms. Jaycee? blah. blah. blah. what a question and here's my answer to that..

i guess i see my self as a woman who would not dare to take any prosthetic things to hurt my body (as well as injecting unnecessary things or whatsoever, aside from piercing my ears again and getting a tattoo). i am a teacher and a teacher must be a good role model to look good, feel good and to be idolized by other citizens. gaaah! i sounded professionally. tee hee!

well, aside from not-hurting-my-body (except for tattoos and pierces). i see my self teaching which is my passion right now.. passion? yes. love? yes. same same same. when you want something think of it as a passion and not just something you work for because of the money. ayay! professionalism really get's me now. it is something to work by loving it. i always dream living on the roof of foreign people out of the country but how can you work on that when you don't have a job? oh, but now i know that working is such a big hit on the spine because it helps you do it. so i guess i see myself as a hard working hardcore teacher living on the countryside of.. idk, maybe new york or california or maybe even england and states that i could manage to tour around the world with. it would be such a splendid expedition to sail the world with loads of squared token to have. yes! so that, and oh, i forgot..

i wanna get married too (if i can), yes, married life being a mom and stuff.. this stuffs i could tell to my kids and grand kids (if ever ha!). sometimes picturing yourself with a healthy baby boy helps you encourage to work hard for the future (idk if it works on you but it helps on me). so you see? it's just a simple question which had an amount of words to answer. blah blah blah! so i have here a list for what do i see 15 years in the future:

1. working as a teacher. yes, i am a teacher and that would always be my profession, nothing less nothing more.
2. high salary. aside from being a teacher, i would also be the MOST out of it. you know, high income means working shit all day.
3. getting the attention. so to speak. i'm never the apple-of-the-eye kind of type but i talk a lot so given there.
4. having the luxurious wedding. i plan to that.. maybe garden wedding or beach would be a lovely event for my once in a lifetime chance of a wedding.
5. parenting/ married life. yes as you know this really helps a lot.. as i said a while ago. encourage. encourage. encourage. at least maybe i get the life for my future family (if i have one)
6. still making that hot booddeeee. yup! after i pass the board exam i tend to loosen up some weight and have those sexy lines , have an ink i always wanted and eat healthy too!
7. getting laid. no, i'm kidding..
8. still up for liquors. ohh, the intense of being young, wild and ... you know that.
9. getting a tattoo. buttercup :)
10.  learning korean language. not only korean language but also some other countries i might want to go and try their language.. like japanese, germany, russians.. bla bla bla!

*so there you go, now you know what i tend to do in the future a part from 15 years from now and how i see myself in 2027. ooooohhh. excitement :) adios, biatches!

practicum done :)

Here I go again. After two months of internship, I came out clean. Chos! Atika gud. But hey, it worked out really well since that practice teaching was quite an experience. Being a sped teacher really ain't just about having a high salary, or teaching kids with disability but also dedicating it to your work and loving kids even more. Yes! I'm done with the whole arti2 thingy but hey I gotta say what I learned from my internship is really not about talking in front of kids but sharing your knowledge to them giving them attention and remarks so that they can improve.. me as well. So to start with all that, during my first shifting I was assigned with the grade 6 fast learners, talk about smart ass! Well, I was getting all the nervous breakdown since it looks to me that I was almost competing with them and not teaching them. Blah blah blaaah! When I started my lessons I was so frustrated coz i'm so careful with my pronunciation and grammar. But really it's not all that but also connecting with the students. Sharing them what you learned and they share what they learned. It's all the give and take process. They were really such a pain in the ass since they keep on talking and talking and talking and not taking my discussion seriously but looking at their faces makes me wanna give them a smoooch! During break times I often hang out with my students, yes, the laughter, the teasing, and the talking. After that they all respected me as an elderly and listens to what i'm discussing though. I'm so blessed to be able to teach them. Talk about visual aids and lesson plans! Darn! It really ticks me off.
Lesson plans and visual aids are just additional to my teaching – and learning theory. Yes! I can teach well without a lesson plan and visual aids coz it'll just make the connection difficult but it's required in our practicum blah blah blah. Yes, yes, yes i'm more of a play time. Ice breakers, games and songs just helps you motivate them into listening. And never forget sleeping late at night writing lesson plans, coloring pictures and waking up early in the morning. Well, I can't imagine my self waking up everyday of the year waking up early just to see the students faces. It's a nightmare right?
Lastly, the complaint, fight, the gossip, the comparison, the competing of each students with others just makes your head blow right out of you! Darn it. I hate it when they complain and fight and I can't do anything because at the end they would still end up fighting with one another what's the use of paying each other respect and disciplining them? Nothing right? I would just tell them to behave or if fighting again I would really send them to the principal. Period.
That ends my very successful life in my internship, I have learn not only teaching the students but also sharing your knowledge to them and guiding them the right choice in life (talk about fights, right? Naaaah). *jc

In-Campus Training.

My teaching demonstration was a success. not only i got to go first but i my grade also improved. oh the joy! i took my sister Ally(sitting on the left side---wearing pink) for the demo with the kids. it was such a splendid, i felt like i am a real teacher with real students. the students also participated very well, they raise their hands and they understood my lesson. well, it's actually for grade 1 lesson but hey! i did a job well done. thanks to my classmates(the visual aiders, my teachers, and the students)

we were having  an activity here. wherein they have to identify the proper shape of an object.
giving them there name tags. oh yes! and i was the only one to have given them their name tags so i could know there names and call them to answer.
this was my first demo. as you can see my subject there is science on which animals live(land, water, both) and the pictures was great. look at those cute colors. such pretties.my classmates were my students and o had to play teacher2. hahaha!
by the way, my subject here was math, that's why it has objects there.
look at my face. it's all stressed out.
Ally had to answer this time. she did very well.
look at the pictures now, ain't it colorful? :)
i had to get them to the chair to answers some stuff on the board. darn these visual aiders they put it to high that's why they had a hard time climbing chairs and encircling the object. but it was worth it.
having charlotte read the question.

these are my co-teachers on that day. we all have each students on our side. yes! such an incredible day.

grumpy teacher!
i haven't even used my ribbons and i worked so hard on this :( so i gave them to my other classmates to use it.
with our mentor.. Teacher Ellen. she really knows a lot and gives us techniques to connect with the students. THANK YOUUUU TEACHER!
During my warm-up. i look like i layed an egg. xD
double shot.
