practicum done :)

Here I go again. After two months of internship, I came out clean. Chos! Atika gud. But hey, it worked out really well since that practice teaching was quite an experience. Being a sped teacher really ain't just about having a high salary, or teaching kids with disability but also dedicating it to your work and loving kids even more. Yes! I'm done with the whole arti2 thingy but hey I gotta say what I learned from my internship is really not about talking in front of kids but sharing your knowledge to them giving them attention and remarks so that they can improve.. me as well. So to start with all that, during my first shifting I was assigned with the grade 6 fast learners, talk about smart ass! Well, I was getting all the nervous breakdown since it looks to me that I was almost competing with them and not teaching them. Blah blah blaaah! When I started my lessons I was so frustrated coz i'm so careful with my pronunciation and grammar. But really it's not all that but also connecting with the students. Sharing them what you learned and they share what they learned. It's all the give and take process. They were really such a pain in the ass since they keep on talking and talking and talking and not taking my discussion seriously but looking at their faces makes me wanna give them a smoooch! During break times I often hang out with my students, yes, the laughter, the teasing, and the talking. After that they all respected me as an elderly and listens to what i'm discussing though. I'm so blessed to be able to teach them. Talk about visual aids and lesson plans! Darn! It really ticks me off.
Lesson plans and visual aids are just additional to my teaching – and learning theory. Yes! I can teach well without a lesson plan and visual aids coz it'll just make the connection difficult but it's required in our practicum blah blah blah. Yes, yes, yes i'm more of a play time. Ice breakers, games and songs just helps you motivate them into listening. And never forget sleeping late at night writing lesson plans, coloring pictures and waking up early in the morning. Well, I can't imagine my self waking up everyday of the year waking up early just to see the students faces. It's a nightmare right?
Lastly, the complaint, fight, the gossip, the comparison, the competing of each students with others just makes your head blow right out of you! Darn it. I hate it when they complain and fight and I can't do anything because at the end they would still end up fighting with one another what's the use of paying each other respect and disciplining them? Nothing right? I would just tell them to behave or if fighting again I would really send them to the principal. Period.
That ends my very successful life in my internship, I have learn not only teaching the students but also sharing your knowledge to them and guiding them the right choice in life (talk about fights, right? Naaaah). *jc
