Movie commentary: Starting Over Again

Another Filipino love story movie, Starting Over Again. Seriously, why do they get the title from classic songs? It's very cliche. Well, any hows the movie was great and it was sad. I dunno why they are making such a typical films now. Before, it was all about mistresses and two-timers. Now, we have those stories of break-ups and ended up with another who turned out to be better than the last one (I can relate to that * Evil laugh*). Okay, back to the main topic. The movie was great (I said that again), the actors and actresses played good.
Seriously, I really don't understand why they titled it Starting Over Again when in the last part of the story they ended their relationship and the guy married his new lover. Oh right, they referred it to the lyrics of the song. Typical, just typical. But hey, for the director I'd give a 7+ rating. Bravo! So, okay. I'm not explaining the whole movie here.

Okay. A student who seriously loves her professor in college. She'd study hard just to impress the guy. She drives him crazy with all the screaming and shouting saying "I love you Sir!". Oh my, really? Even if I was in  her shoes I'd be too shy to do that If I had a crush on a teacher. Students don't do that now a days, or even mail letters. He, on the other hand doesn't even like the girl. Uh hello? A teacher and student relationship inside one institution? It's not allowed. I think that's in every school handbook. Teacher and student relationship in one campus is forbidden. Maybe because of favoritism and unequal relationship to other students. It's not balance, and not right. Unless, the student is from another school or she finished her studies. But during semesters and classes? Big no no.

  • Toni Gonzaga, who plays Ginny Gonzales as an architecture student who happens to have a major crush on her history instructor. Her role as the childish, short-haired, smarty- pants school girl who would do anything just to have the attention of Marco.

Seriously Toni, what's with the wig thang? I can't seem to take my eyes off that jaw. But, you're a good actress. Keep it up. She plays better as well being childish. Well, I noticed that you have so many at hand. Can't you wear one bracelet for each day?
    Nice bag, Ginny.

Papa Piolo, nice headband. Okay, Piolo plays as Marco Villanueva who is the history teacher in a University. He happens to be the crush ng campus of the said school. He's strong personality and his relationship to his students are a turn-on to Ginny. Though, he maybe classy in his role but he is good. Add hotness to that too. Nyaah!

Okay, there goes the wig thing again. Toni looks so young in this scene and Piolo looks like a dad.
Yeah, aside from being able to teach, Marco can also cook. Did I mention that he went to a culinary school? And, build a small restaurant for customers to taste his authentic dish? Oh, now you know. He loves to cook. Gosh! If I had a guy like that, I'd buy all the ingredients to all his dishes and a free taste to his booodeey!
We all feel that, Ginny. But it looks to me that you are very ticklish of the way Marco kissed your shoulder. Grrr, Marco I want a bite of that. Hahaha! Seriously, Ginny? You look like shit.
It's your fault Ginny. You left him for no reason. Now, look at you? Having second thought about seeing him or not. You're over-reacting at his letter. I should probably mention that you were the one who left in the first place. You ignored his letters. You went to Spain and came back after 4 years? How can that not hurt him? Now, you want him back? You're being selfish. And Toni's scene here seems so o.a. Really.
His new lover, Iza Calzado plays as Pat. The new lover of Marco. They met at New York. Pat also loves to cook, well, baking. She loves to bake. And she's very pretty too, maybe the same age as Marco.
Uhhh. Poor Ginny. Seeing the love of her life(EX) with another girl. A very typical pinoy movie. But seeing the ending made me cry because I wanted Marco and Ginny to live happily with each other not with another. But it was okay, since they started as friends again. Okay, advice though, never let go of the person you truly love and make that person feel important or else you'll end up regretting all the things you did. The pain will haunt you down. That's all loveers! Chao.

The Family Vs. American Dad

Watching movies about families just makes you wanna cry, especially those dramatic moments that makes it intense. Family means an individual who is loved, cared and protected by those people who are related by blood and by genes. In most societies, family are the principal institution for the socialization of children. Yeah, you'll probably suspicious that I took that out from another source. But it's true. Family means having those people you love so much has greater amount of power than any other source of happiness. They are the basic supplier in all your needs and wants. They are always there for you and they would do anything you ask them to, that's family.

After watching another mafia movie, I would do another movie commentary related with the film. How does a mafia boss protects it's family versus a CIA agent who barely spends time with his family. Okay, okay, I know it's really stupid to make the two parties being judged but I'd like to share somethings to you.

So before I start ranting about useless thoughts that I'd share. I would like to tell you that watching "The Family" made me think that having a mafia relative is cool. Yeah, I would like that very much. Getting to be so cool and dangerous. Being popular and known. The movie was all about a mafia boss and his family relocated to another place and being protected by the witness protection program or the FBI after snitching on the mob. To hide their former identity they must use other names so that they wouldn't be killed by other mafias. Unfortunately, they showed their old habits and blown their cover by handling the "family" way. Enabling their mafia cronies to track them down somewhere in France.

However, a cool undercover agent father and his weird family has their own "family" way. Being a father means you are responsible for the acts of your family --- Being the leader of the pack, the voice of the family and sometimes acting stupid is what you get. A housewife, daughter, and a son makes it an average and yet simple family but adding a pet who is a fish that can talk and an alien who is much less important to bare with. It makes it all weird even.

Fred Blake vs. Stan Smith.

Old but such an award winning actor Robert De Niro, he plays the role as the mafia boss or the father of the family. He never liked being disrespected by other citizen nor strangers that passes by his moves. He'd kill you for that. Aside from brutally beating a plumber and the manager of a water company. He doesn't like being interrupted when he's being serious about something.

Oh, if only you were my dad I'd tell all the bullies at school to not mess with me coz having you around makes it all safe and protected. You are one smart ass Mr. Blake. He looks like  Noah from the bible. But his parenting as a father suits him very much, with all that hair in his face, he rather looked like a grandpa than a father. The personality he fits in the film is very rare and it suits him. The way a father does to protect his family and his dignity as a mafia boss. He is fucking cool because of the way he acts. Aside from being a fake writer, he has a taste for being an author. The things that make him a good guy.

A handsome father who is fresh and slightly a bastard to his own will. He's an agent and he is the also respected as the president of the CIA. Talk about a total protection program. No matter what you'll do he has his own stupid ways of parenting. Yeah, but atleast he has time for his wife, Francine. He can really be a hero because he protects his family by having his own gun. Tacky!

What about men and guns?  Yeah, they may look cool if you're wearing a tux and a police badge that's why Francine always makes him special in her own pretty bitchy ways. She's one hot american mom who does everything she can for her family.

On the other hand, Michelle Pfeiffer play as Maggie - the wife of the Mafian leader Giovanni Manzoni. A one hot italian mom who is very protective for her family, especially when she cares so much for her husband. What's wrong with buying a peanut butter in France? It's food right? She's one bomb thrower-mother, nothing can get in her way and never ever mess with her or even eavesdrop.

A family, wouldn't be complete without children, right? Well, they say children are the future of every parents. Every mother and father would be very proud to bear a child. And the Smiths family couldn't be happier to have two adorable child. Hayley and Steve Smith. Hayley, she's a simple kid and a black sheep to the family. Fights hard for cancer because she's bald and she wears a black wig to be able to go out to socialize.. But only to his boyfriend. She's plain and smart and does everything that's right and proves that she is (well, sometimes).

Without nerds, it's not right. Steve Smith is one smarty-pants. Like most nerds, Steve enjoys hanging with his big bang friends who loves watching porn on the internet and plays monopoly games with popcorn ad juice box as energizers. See? What's wrong with that? He is never like his father who owns a gun and works as a sercet agent. He also enjoys gardening and baking (Gay? No. Nerds do that.). Although, he knows fishing and plays the basketball and can't even shoot one or make a free-throw. The fact that he still keeps a stuffed monkey in his room. Loser.

The italian children however has a different interest. They inherited from their father or mother. They are strong and fierce. Dianna Aragon plays as Belle the eldest and only daughter of Maggie and Giovanni. Never mess with this gal because she can give a punch and hits you with a tennis racket. I love the part when she beated that freckled face French guy who happens to be a loser and his friends. I am also the eldest and looks like we have some things in common. Hehehe! She's really pretty and it suits her.
She's way hotter than her role in Glee. Though they have the same bitchy feminism.

Nerds and smartypants. Yeah, some nerds can be a bully, especially when you have a brother as one. John D'Leo plays as Warren Blake who is the only son of Maggie and Giovanni. He is such a cutie pie and a smart ass kid. The part where he beated those bullies who beated him first inside the mens room (Payback time). How cool is that? He never deals of anything and he has a language for words. He'd plan everything up and gets it all done. I tell ya' do not mess with any children of Mafias, they'll finish you up.

A family wouldn't be also complete without a pet. Lucky for the Smiths, they have a goldfish (Claus) and an alien (Roger). Weird, but intriguing. Claus is a goldfish who happens to be a secret agent and has a major crush on Francinne, while Roger came from a planet called Zuma (Kidding).

Like any other normal family who have pets at home, the Blakes has their own K-nine. Now, it's very common with the quote that says a man's bestfriend is a dog. Well, Giovanni has his own rightside. Thankfully the dog was there to help them. When those hitmen had hunted them down and tracked their address in France, the dog never left their side and instead killed one of their enemy. Impressive. I wish I had a dog, but I'm too scared to pet an animal.
 Ain't he cute? Not! He looks like a wolf/ dog/ bat/ lion.

Oh well. That is all for my useless rants for this blog post. I conclude that a family is the most important source of energy, aside from food. They are always there emotionally, physically, spiritually and financially supportive of what you decide and what you'd do. Love your family 'cause they are always there for you when you need or not need them. I love my family, so much. Chao! :)

The Short Novel.

This is something I just make while I really have nothing to do. Writing a very effective novel. I am no Stephanie Meyer or J.K Rowling but hey, it's just something I wanted to do. I am no good in writing novel but If you are then you can publish your novel in a classy publishing company. The reason I am doing this is for me to improve my writing skills and the challenge I wanted to prove of myself that I can do this like those other professional writers can. But as I mentioned earlier, I am no Edgar Allan Poe or Dale Peck. So, don't find it funny if you think it's not good enough for you. My advice to that: Stop reading!

***
"I knew everything Stan. You don't have to make a big deal out of it", Claire looked bemused as she was searching for words to explain to Stan.

"Why didn't you tell me? You knew everything. Yet you haven't told me one bit", Stan fearlessly looked surprise. Grabbing Claire by the arms and swaying her back and forth, as If desperately trying to push her away.

Claire knew everything, she knew that Stan was hiding a secret from her. A secret that made her think twice about leaving Stan and moving away to another state without his permission. He means a lot to her and this is what she gets after finding out that Stan had other relationships besides Claire. He had options too. He loves her too, but Claire found out everything.

She was standing there, dumb-founded. Wiped the tears that was spreading in her cheeks, down her neck and in her hands as they cannot be stopped. Her wild watery cries made Stan hugged her and comforted her.

"I'm sorry, Claire bear. I'm sorry. Here, let me wipe that for you"

"I know. That's why I don't want to tell you, Stan" her voice felt like a sharp bolt that hit the waves.

Stans face went soft. He kissed her in the forehead and hugged her tighter that her face was pressed in his chest.

"But I love you, Claire. That is true" They were now kneeling in front of each others arms.

Claire was crying so hard. She remembered the things that made her depress. Seeing Stan and Emma together, holding hands at the park. Claire had to hide behind the tree so that Stan can't see her. The night when Claire and Stan slept together and his phone starts to ringing, Claire had to pick it up because Stan was too drunk to hear the noisy phone call and she saw the name Emma.

"I really don't know what to do with you right now, Stan" She started talking clearly. Looking up at Stan.

"I wanna leave you. I wanna go away. I want to end this. This ain't good for the both of us, Stan"

"Wait, Claire. Shhh... I love you Claire. I don't know my life without you. That was 4 months ago and you're telling me this now? Why now?"

"Because you're the father to what she's bearing right now! I was so blind because I really don't know that something was going on with you and her" She was scolding now.

"But I don't love her, Claire. I only did that because I thought you were leaving me. You said so yourself, you can't deal having a long-term relationship and you expect me to cry for you all the time? Begging for you to stay? I'm a man Claire. I don't do that shit"

"And where am I now? Did I go? Did I? No. Because I love you Stan that's why I stayed. I can't live my life without you that's why I want to live here with you. If you could just behave your balls like a real man, none of this would happen. Now, look at us? You're begging me, not to leave you?

"Look, Claire. I'm sorry. It's my fault. I was stupid, I'm an asshole. Don't... Just don't end this. I really do love you. Lets go away, far away Claire.. Lets go to other place. Just us. Forget this.. I love you Claire"

"Sorry too. But really have to go" Claire was sobbing her tears off.

They were standing now, faced with each other. Claire wanted to slap him in the face but she was fooled by love itself.

Claire ignored Stan. Went to the bedroom, took a bag and started to pack her things. Dashed in the closet to fetch her clothes and other stuffs. Stan, rubbed his face and punched the wall. Walked outside and walked away.

She was crying so hard while she folded her clothes and placed it inside the bag. How could he lie to her. Now, he's gonna be a father. Claire had no choice but to really leave the entire place and find on a new life for herself. They have been together for 3 years and look at them now, breaking up.

Although, she knew that something like this would happen but she just ignored everything because of love. She loved him, she never did anything to hurt him, or argue with him. She's such a nice, warm-hearted girl.

This ain't over yet, she thought to herself. I can do this. I can move on. I have given him too many chances already and now I'm the one being fooled by him. This is not gonna happened again.

The phone rang again. It was Emma. She was calling. Claire had no option but to pick it up and pressed talked.

    "Hello?" the familiar voice spoke.

    "Hello, Emma"

    "Claire? Where is Stan?"

    "He's out"

    "Where'd he go?"

    "I don't know. How's the doctor?"

    "Fine. It's gonna be healthy"

    "Okay. I have to go"

"Ohh.. Wait.. Uhm, Claire.. Mom said If you're going home this evening? She's making dinner"

Claire had to end the call and continued to pack. She's annoyed by her sister Emma, calling and calling for hours to check up on Stan. She stood up, took the bag, open the door outside and went to get a taxi. I'm never coming back here again, she said as she closed her eyes to stop the tears from traveling down her cheeks again.

------------

That is all for this tragic short novel of mine. More to come. Hahaha! I hoped that filled your eyes with thrill. Bye lovers. Gonna be making more of that. Yes, yes, yes.

6 Reasons Why I Love Teaching

When I was 16, a fourth year high school student. There was this test that would identify which career path you're gonna be when entering college. As I got the result, there it was saying "you're career path is becoming a teacher". This time, I get to be really upset about it, because I do not want to be a teacher. I wanted anything else but be a teacher. Because a teacher has many things to do, like compute student grades, facing parents or even dating one (kidding about that), responsible for students behavior in school, facing the principal about student behaviors, and writing lesson plans. It's all about students, lessons, and school work. Sheesh! I really wanted to become a nurse but Noooo.
My entire family had to drag me to becoming an educator and so I got what they wanted. I'd always wanted to become a nurse or better yet a fashion designer, or cartoonist. I wanted to doodle. Finally, all my intentions paid off, I had to enroll in an Education department and I what I thought was "Maybe being a teacher is not so bad after all". I took a shot at it. I was then influenced by my Aunt (She's a Sped teacher) that I should be choosing a teacher because it's a simple job and then I was thinking "what's so simple about being a teacher? It's a pain in the ass". My dad had to tease me like "When you become a teacher, you can enjoy lots of stuff, like listing down noisy students and letting them pay for every stick they are noisy and you get to enjoy their money like buying yourself a pair of crayons" or even cigarettes (kidding, I don't smoke). Then my grandmother told me that "J, you'd become a great teacher because you are nice, you can draw which students find it interesting in listening to your lessons, you are smart, you love children and you are very responsible". That gave me a hit in the heart. I then realized that I wanted this profession enough to also make my grandmom proud because she was also an educator in Home Ed.

Okay, so I finaally am an educator student. However, I didn't take it seriously though because of the whole "new-friends-and-party" going on as I entered college. Until from time to time, I finally realized that I love to teach..

Reasons of Why I Love Being a Teacher:

1. Creating Colorful and Fun Atmosphere.
Oh, I just love this decorating thing, I wanted my classroom to be interesting and fun for children to explore and learn. During my internship, I was also caught up with all the colorful classroom setting which is very eye-catching and all the art works of it.

2. Sharing What I  Also Learned.
Well, maybe because it's colorful and very easy to read and I can share this to my students. Reading can be very easy and fun especially to children. You know, with all the pictures and colors in it. Teaching them the ABCs, and other stuffs they would be interested in. Sometimes, children books can engage to games and storytelling. Me? What I did, storytelling. They find it interesting and they can learn something with it.

3. Relationship with Kids.
I just love children, which makes me one. The more I spend time with them the more I look younger (Hahaha. Kidding). Well, I love children and I love to teach them. Sharing what I learned during my days to them makes me a very responsible person, honest and approachable. Well, when I am teaching in a regular class I would never give failing marks to my students that would piss every parents. I know the feeling, that's why I never wanted to see anyone fail when I am teaching. Sharing my experiences to them makes it easy for them to understand. The ability to help them give their best in tests.

4. Novelty
Those who have taught know exactly what I mean here. Teaching is NEVER the same from one day to the next. The constant flux of variables: students present in class, student moods, time of year, time of day, other events in the school, lesson for the day ... make this profession an never-ending kaleidoscope of variety and change.
Being a teacher is not a boring job! Frustrating, yes, sometimes. Difficult. Yes. But boring, no! For someone like me, who loves adventure, you go on many journeys right within the walls of your classroom. Journeys of growth as students grow, you grow, and the class as whole grows.

 5. Summer Vacation
Yes! Two months off every year. How we teachers look forward toApril, counting down the last few days of the school year in anticipation! Even the keenest of teachers, most loving and dedicated, looks forward to a break. And a long, luxurious break we have. Kind of. Many of us still do prep work during the summer, getting ready for the next year. But still ... we don't have to officially "go to work." And that is a pretty sweet deal, no matter how you slice it! So, summer holidays are definitely on the top ten for the best things about being a teacher.
6. The Love
It's an easy job. I just love teaching, not because of the high salary I get, not because of the cute students to get that favoritism thingy, not because of cute people you get to know each year or some of the years, not because of failing the students. But because I appreciate the works of being a teacher (now). It really ain't hard being one but just keeping it real and love your profession as an educator.

It Takes a Man and a Woman (movie commentary)

I just watched a local movie called "It Takes a Man and a Woman", when I heard this movie all that would come up are sex and procrastination and babies and other stuffs couple would dare to do. But we are not here to talk about those unnecessary shit. This movie is all about a simple love story. One thing I like about Philippines movies are the romance and comedy that blends in and make the perfect moment which I find it cute and the "kilig" stuff, also something that would relate to filipino people nowadays. That's pinoy, and it's more fun in the Philippines. Hahaha!
Well, all I couls say is that it is a must watch, must see movie. Starring Sarah Geronimo as Laida and John Lloyd Cruz as Miggy/ Miguel. They are such a cute couple, and they make the perfect romantic comedy couple in modern phillipine love story. They make such outstanding loveteam in terms of romance and comedy being combined with. To start with, Laida went to abroad (NYC) as a staff in a magazine company and Miggy stayed in the Philippines, he is a business man who owns a certain magazine company in Pinas. Uncertain problem came to their relationship, like Miggys father died and Laidas mother caught her father with another (hey! that sort of rhyme there. Okay. Whatever). Miggy needed company and called Laida for to come back to the Phil. Unfortunately, when Laida came back.. she saw Miggy kissing with another girl (Isabelle Daza) and their relationship turned into a break-up which Laida went fleeing back to new york leaving Miggy Mr. Saddy-Pants. Boo-Hoo! A typical pinoy love quarrel. That's all your fault Miggy! Why can't you wait for her to arrive. It was suppose to be a surprise, wasn't it? Okay. Nevermind. Miggy had to propose at a very wrong time.. And you must watch this movie so that you would know what happened next.

*John Lloyd as Miggy. Here I go, his role really suites him. He was such a Mr. Goody-TwoShoes with all the formalitities and then he turned into a bad boy uptight bastard. Oh, Men.. whenever they make mistakes they change for the worst! (Well, not all). Ain't he just a dreamboy? I swore I'd kidnap a guy like him and put him inside a big sack and into the closet :) A surprisingly good guy turned into a slacker after a true love break-up.
John Lloyd. John Lloyd John Lloyd.

But the name "Miguel" suites you way cooler.

Sarah Geronimo as Laida. She's such a pretty little actress and her role suites her fine and nice. Her acting, her KPOP style, her accent, her cute face and..
What's up with the fucking wig?

Did I mention I have a crush on Isabelle Daza. Man, I wanna be a man right now.. Just look at her:

Well, that is all for my movie commentary. Lesson learned? Forgive and forget and get married! Hahaha! except the last two lines.Tada! Bye fans. Enjoy watching :)
